I've been a fan of Classic Game Room on YouTube for years, probably close to when Mark first started posting videos on YouTube. I prefer books over comics. That said, this collection is hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud of the jokes. I also can appreciate the time that goes into drawing and inking the panels by hand.

The book starts with a mashup of all the characters you will find in the following pages. It's a crazy plot, drawn digitally that gives you a taste of what's to come. I mention the digital part for two reasons. The images are much clearer and crisper than the scans of the following comics. By the end of the book I understood why Mark can draw quicker digitally. More on that later.

Each comic starts with a brief explanation. Roughly half the book is filled with newer digitally drawn comics and the other half ink drawn from his college years. You can tell Mark was a college student. The panels are filled with talk and images of booze, women drawn with great attention to their chest and legs, lots of muscles on the men, and highly detailed weapons. The attention to detail in the shading of the people is outstanding.

Also the backgrounds. If a story is told through images, then detailed backgrounds are the adjectives to the story. They make the world. And these older comics have backgrounds filled with jokes and detailed landscapes. You start to see that the women all kinda look alike and ditto for the men. Though they have a bit more variety. I found video game references throughout. It's like Mark had foreseen his future. He mentions that this level of detail took lots of time. To me they add quite a bit overall. More so than the plain backgrounds of the newer digital comics.

I think someone who is not familiar with Classic Game Room's style but who enjoys comics could enjoy this collection is. But realize that it's a collection of comics that didn't last very long. So, no complete or even fully thought out plot lines. Fans of CGR will enjoy the artwork, the humor, and finding the beginnings of the CGR universe.

Finally, Mark talks about how much he doesn't like his Mass Media comic strip. It was a plainly draw comic with few detailed panels. I found it to be consistently funny. I laughed the hardest while reading that section. I'm not sure if that means I'm now banished from Earth.

Awesome collection of old and new adventures from the brain of Bussler. A must have!
It was fun to get a chance to read through all of Mark's old comics. You can tell they were written at a different time in his life. Different humor and details in the drawings. Lots of funny lines and situations throughout them. Mark gives an outline before each set of comics explaining his thought process while making the comic and what he was doing at the time. Certainly worth reading if you like Classic Game Room or any of Mark's comics.
